Choosing the perfect deer blind

We have hundreds of options...but what blind is right for you?

So you are interested in a new hunting blind...You've come to right place! For over 25 years Outdoors For Less has been a leader in the hunting blind industry. With over 200 models and many different brands to choose from, we can confidently say we have something for everyone!  At the same time, you may be thinking, "How the heck do I choose with that many options?"
As a store specializing in hunting blinds, we understand the struggle of choosing the perfect hideout. In this extensive guide, we'll dive into the nitty-gritty details of various deer hunting blinds, ensuring that by the end, you'll be equipped with the knowledge to make an informed decision. There are a ton of factors that play into which is the best blind for you so let's dive into some of the most important topics.
Bow Blinds VS Gun Blinds
One of the most important factors in choosing your blind is making sure you have the right hunting blind for the tools you will be using. Bow blinds have much larger vertical windows for better shot opportunities.  You can absolutely use a gun or crossbow in a bow blind, but using a bow in a gun blind could be a recipe for disaster. When hunting with a bow, your arrow rests much lower than your sight setup. If you are not correctly positioned you could end up sending that arrow straight into the side of your blind. Now I know what you are thinking, "Ain't no way I'm dumb enough to make that mistake."  I hear ya. I like to think that way as well, but when a 180+ testosterone fueled swamp donkey is waddling my way...I can barely remember to take the Little Debbie out of my mouth before picking up my bow. Better to be safe than sorry.

Soft Sided vs. Hard Sided - Weighing the Options

Soft-sided blinds excel in portability and ease of setup. Their lightweight design allows you to move stealthily, adapting to changing conditions. However, the downside is a compromise in durability. If you're the type of hunter who values adaptability and you plan to move the blind frequently, a soft-sided blind might be your go-to choice.

In contrast, hard-sided blinds are the sturdy workhorses of the hunting world. Constructed with durability in mind, these blinds can endure harsh weather conditions and last for decades. If you prioritize comfort, longevity and a more permanent setup, a hard-sided blind might be the ideal choice.

To Insulate or Not to Insulate - Navigating Temperature Extremes

The insulation dilemma adds another layer of complexity to the decision-making process. Insulated blinds provide a shield against chilly weather, offering a cozy environment akin to a well-insulated home.
Hey midwesterners, I'm talking to you! As I write this, it's -17 degrees out...without the wind chill. Sure, -17 is pretty uncommon, but 15 degrees is super common for late season hunts.   If you don't have 2 Mr. Buddy's and a 20lb tank, deer will be able to hear your bones shaking 50 yards out.
Consider the climate of your hunting grounds and your personal tolerance for cold. If you anticipate braving the elements in the colder months, an insulated blind becomes a valuable asset. However, if you relish the idea of embracing the raw, unfiltered essence of the outdoors, a non-insulated blind might be more aligned with your hunting philosophy.
One last not on Insulated blinds, interior sound. Insulated blinds are incredibly more quiet on the inside and provide a layer of sound deadening that can be crucial during a hunt.

The Price is Right - Balancing Budget and Quality

Deer hunting blinds span a wide range of price points, from budget-friendly options to premium models that can leave a dent in your wallet. Finding the right balance between cost and quality is crucial, ensuring that you make a smart investment without compromising on your hunting experience.

Budget-friendly blinds are often lightweight and portable, suitable for hunters who prefer to move frequently. These blinds may lack some of the bells and whistles of their pricier counterparts, but they get the job done without breaking the bank.

The Rotomolded Marvels - Engineering Toughness

Rotomolded blinds emerge as the superheroes of the deer hunting world, designed to withstand the harshest conditions Mother Nature can throw their way. These robust structures, molded through a rotational molding process, offer unparalleled durability.

Rotomolded blinds excel in longevity and toughness. The rotational molding technique creates a seamless, one-piece design, eliminating weak points and vulnerable seams. If you prioritize a blind that can endure the elements with grace, a rotomolded option might be the right fit.
All of our hunting blinds from Sportsman's Condo and Banks are manufactured in this way. In my honest opinion, this is the best bang for your buck that you can get in a hunting blind, and it will literally last a lifetime!

Navigating the world of deer hunting blinds requires careful consideration of your preferences, hunting style, and the conditions you'll face. Whether you opt for a soft or hard-sided blind, prioritize insulation, or choose based on your budget, the key is to align your decision with your unique needs. Armed with this comprehensive guide, you're now prepared to make an educated choice, ensuring that your next hunting expedition is not only successful but also comfortable and enjoyable.
