The Hog Slammer™ – Original Saloon-Style Hog Trap Doors by Sportsman's Condo

Take control of your hog problem with The Hog Slammer™, the original saloon-style trap gate that’s simple, effective, and built to last.

How It Works

The Hog Slammer uses a smart, no-nonsense design. The trap features adjustable saloon-style doors held open by a trigger rod. When a hog tips a bait-filled bucket inside the pen, the trigger releases, and the doors slam shut—locking the hogs inside.

But here’s the genius part: the doors remain open from the outside, allowing more hogs to walk in and join their trapped companions—turning the first few captives into live bait for the rest of the sounder.

Built Tough

Crafted from heavy-duty 14-gauge steel and coated in a leaf green powder finish for camouflage and long-term durability, the Hog Slammer is made for rugged outdoor use. Setup is quick and easy (assembly hardware not included), so you can get to work managing your hog population right away.

Trap Gate Dimensions

  • Outside Width: 37 1/4
  • Outside Height: 48
  • Inside Opening Width: 33 3/8
  • Inside Opening Height: 42

Includes a free bag of BIG & J™ – PIGS-DIG-IT™ hog attractant to get you started right.

Pro Tips: Setting Up Your Hog Slammer Pen

  • Use a round or tear-drop shape to guide hogs toward the gate.
  • Bigger is better—20 to 30 feet in diameter yields best results.
  • Conceal the trap with brush or natural cover.
  • Make sure panels rest flat on the ground to prevent escape.
  • Place bait directly opposite the Hog Slammer entrance.

Effective Baiting & Trapping Techniques

  • Practice scent control—hogs have a sharp nose.
  • Pre-bait inside and outside the pen for several days.
  • Be patient—let hogs discover and grow comfortable entering the trap.
  • Sour your corn with diesel, water, or beer to deter deer and raccoons.
  • Use commercial attractants like Biologic’s Hog Addiction mixed with corn.
  • Add sow-in-heat scent by soaking a carpet-covered board and placing it inside.
  • Monitor from a distance, especially in hot weather.
  • Approach carefully and dispatch from a safe distance, starting with the largest hog.
  • After a successful catch, relocate the trap—it may take weeks for a new group to return.

Important Safety & Legal Notes

  • Always follow state and federal game laws when trapping.
  • Be cautious when setting the trap—spring-loaded doors can cause injury if hands or fingers are caught.

Let the Hog Slammer™ do the hard work—trap smarter, not harder.
